Chris Derrick Set to Defend Title at the 2014 USA Cross Country ChampionshipsPublished by BoulderUSACross.com on January 24, 2014 BOULDER — Defending champion Chris Derrick has entered the Open Men’s 12 km at the 2014 USA Cross Country Championships slated in Boulder, Colo., Feb. 15, USA Track & Field has announced today. Derrick (Naperville, Ill.), a recent Stanford graduate, is no stranger to success. In addition to his 2013 USA Cross Country title, he qualified for the IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Moscow, Russia in the 10,000m. He also helped lead Team USA to a silver medal at the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships with a top-10 finish, and he most recently captured an individual victory for Team USA at the BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross Country race in Scotland. As a prep star, he won the individual title at Nike Cross Nationals and followed that up with a runner-up finish at the Footlocker High School Cross Country Championships. He then took this talents to The Farm and Stanford University where he was a 13-time All American, earning four honors in Cross Country and a combined nine in Indoor and Outdoor Track.
